Located along the famed Foxen Canyon Road, the Tres Hermanas Vineyard & Winery was founded in the early 2000s by Marvin & Paulette Teixeira with the planting of a small vineyard on their cattle ranch. Tres Hermanas which means "the three sisters," was named for their three daughters, Stacey, Tracey & Marcey. Tres Hermanas' label is a picture of the barn that exhibits the JT cattle brand, which was Marvin's fathers brand used to identify cattle today. The barn still exists on the winery property. The ranch is still headquarters for the family cattle operation. Tres Hermanas' first harvest was in 2003 with the tasting room opening in 2007.
The tasting room is family run with lots of unique gift items. The wood beamed ceiling and homey interior makes for a comfortable wine tasting experience. There is even a refurbished mechanical toy riding horse for the kids (quarters required). On Sundays Tres Hermanas frequently offers food pairing along with their wine. Wines are sourced beyond the estate vineyard with fruit coming from the Santa Rita Hills, Los Alamos and other Santa Barbara County vineyards. In total over a dozen wines varieties are produced.
The Tres Hermanas Vineyard & Winery now offers an opportunity to enjoy a private barrel tasting with their winemaker. You will enjoy a more in-depth discussion of the wine making process and have an opportunity to ask questions about wine, all while tasting directly from barrels aging in their cellar. Advanced appointments are necessary. Call the tasting room to schedule your visit.
