The Valley Project loves wine and believes that Santa Barbara is one of the best places on Earth to grow and make it. This project is a love letter to Santa Barbara's wine country. Born out of a desire to showcase the County's incredibly diverse Viticultural Areas. The Valley Project tries to communicate to visitors - with hands-on soil samples, Los Angeles artist Elkpen's amazing mural and, of course wine - the region's topography, soils and microclimates. The Valley Project takes visitors on a tour through all of Santa Barbara's AVAs, one glass at a time.
Located in Santa Barbara's Funk Zone, The Valley Project is emphasizing wine education with an inviting atmosphere. The moment you enter The Valley Project you see a bright and open space with a wall-sized chalk mural behind the tasting that illustrates Santa Barbara's wine regions and microclimates. With The Valley Project label, the focus is on the many different varietals thriving in the Santa Barbara area and each bottle is labeled with the regions in which the grapes come from, since all the regions have such diverse climates and terrains.
The portfolio at this location is produced by Seth Kunin, the winemaker at Kunin Wines a few blocks down. The Valley project sources grapes from five different local appellations and pour a dozen different varietals including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, Viognier, Grenache, Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot, Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and more.
