Too salty can make customers sour
Reviewer: Shannon from Santa Barbara, CA
My friend and I were walking around Santa Barbara when we stopped at California Pasta. We were expecting a fresh salad with a zesty pasta dish, but instead we received chopped lettuce with boring almonds, drab mandarins, and watered down dressing. Our pasta was a noodle dish covered with canned salsa topped with chicken that could be easily mistaken for scrambled eggs, but nothing could be tasted over the amount of salt used. After being disappointed with our dinner, we notified to the staff about the poor meal by telling them that our food was unsatisfactory. The staff member told us that she could not give us a refund and we could get a different meal, but they would charge us. We decided the meal was not worth finishing and left with a bad impression of not only the food of California Pasta, but also the staff.

Great food..not so great service

Ive been coming here for years now and absolutely love everything on the menu. It was unfortunated when the cashier was not helpful at all and had a attitude. Employee's like this make customers not want to visit again....

Deelish

This is my favorite place to eat in sb. I get the avocado farfalle every time. They could use more seating and space but I love it.

No dressing
Reviewer: Candy Moel from Santa Barbara, CA
I ordered a $9.00 cobb salad to go. When I got back to work, I find out there was no dressing and there was cold cut ham in the salad.

sub-par performance
Reviewer: Chris C. from Santa Barbara, CA
In their defense, today was a tourist day and they were slammed with business - after we ordered. So a little wait was understandable. However, our two dishes came out several minutes apart - four completed orders apart, actually. They were using a 'call out the number' system, and not very well, so the pass was clogged with plates. Today's shrimp Ceasar was bland and stem-laden with sparse croutons; the Cajun shrimp was slapped together too fast for the veggies to saute, sauce thin and under-spiced. More like a meal at their now-defunct Five Points store than Paseo. Hope they fix it.

Delicious

So much yummier than i ever imagined and better than most places/unique/fast/yum in my tum.

Do I want to eat cardboard for dinner....?
Reviewer: Elena from Santa Barbara, CA
I should have stuck with their pasta dishes, which they do well. If you want decent pizza, go to a place that actually specializes in making it. What they served me was essentially cheese-covered cardboard. Clearly the crust was something pre-made and hardly brown at all. The Caesar salad was okay but too much dressing and the cheese was essentially sprinkled from a can. Fresh parmesan would have been better.

Pretty Good Food and Service
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
The cooks really get the food to you quick. The pasta was restaurant style without having to pay the large tips. Highly recommend the California Pasta. The other popular item, Cajun Chicken Sandwich was nothing special and not sure what part of it was "Cajun"(some pepper flakes?). Unlimited soda bar out, limited seating in/out. 2 for 1 local discount card.

Very good food and discount card cut my bill in half
Reviewer: Mike from Santa Barbara, CA
Chicken Farfalle was delicious as was the Oriental salad. My gluttonous friend was ticked off I didn't order another pasta dish, afraid that there wasn't going to be enough food. Everything was fresh and very tasty. Salad had just the right amount of dressing. Pasta was very good, and we were served a very generous helping. There was plenty and all for $10, thanks to discount card!!!

Yum, Yum, Gimme Some!!!!
Reviewer: Oria from Orange County, CA
I don't live in SB anymore, but whenever I visit, California Pasta is on the list of things to do. I LOVE CP's food...ESPECIALLY THE GARLIC FETA CHICKEN SANDWICH! The service is always great and I've NEVER been disappointed with the food. In fact, I am so happy to find out that they opened a new restaurant at 5 Points Shopping center (where Milano's used to be). GREAT food with an extensive menu. Nice job on the remodel too!! :) Wishing we had a CP in the OC! Any thoughts of opening one down here? ;)

Too oily
Reviewer: Sandra from Santa Barbara, CA
The whole menu is great in theory, and actually tastes okay too. However, every single thing I have tried on the menu has been totally drenched in oil. I am not a health freak or anything, but the sandwiches drip oil, and the pasta leaves a pool of oil on the plate. It all tasted okay, but please back off the oil! It would still taste great and be much more fresh without all that oil.

bring back old menu
Reviewer: Karen from Santa Barbara, CA
One of my favorite places when I was a student! I wish they would bring back the chicken sandwhich with feta/garlic. I realize feta is more expensive, but that sandwich was one of a kind.

California Pasta writes: Thank you for your response. The Garlic Chicken Sandwich never left. We still have it on the menu. Our menu has'nt changed in some time. After the remodel we kept everything the same, just added a few more items.
