Lunch for Valentine's , 3/5/2018
Reviewer: Judy S. from Santa Barbara, CA
It's probably been 10 years since I've been here, but when hubby asked where I'd like to go for V-day, I chose Chase, and I'm glad I did! Cocktails were smooth and generous. Started with their homemade Caesar Salad, delicious! Veal Milanese melted in my mouth, so tender and fettuccine cooked to perfection! My husband had shrimp piccata with spaghetti and loved it. With Frank Sinatra singing in the background, the atmosphere was very romantic. Our waitress was professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We were spoiled for 90 minutes and loved every minute of it!! We'll definitely be back!! I'm sorry I haven't returned until now but glad I did! Thank you, Chase, for reminding me why I used to come here!!

Beautiful Open Sunny Setting to Watch State St Glide By

Drop by for a quick drink and stayed for hours. Bartender was fun to talk to, attentive but laid back. Steamed Clams, Brussel Sprouts and yummy salads all washed down with Italian beers. Super comfy seats and banquets. Front of restaurant is wide open to the beautiful SB sky. Great retro decorations. The Chase is an eternal SB classic. Will come back soon!

Dinner at Chase

I had the veal picata which was amazing. My wife had the lasagna which she said was the best she had ever had. We also had drinks which were poured nicely and the service was excellent. We will go back.

Change in management and dining experience
Reviewer: Dave from Santa Barbara, CA
The trend in dining experience for Chase Bar & Grill, like many Santa Barbara restaurants, has been to increase loudness, reduce ambiance, reduce food quality, increase prices, and reduce dining time in the seat. The idea for these changes is to increase profit. I think you will notice these objectives have also reduced the number of "regular customers". Chase also goes along with the Santa Barbara trend of seating customers on the sidewalk, further reducing the quality of the shopping experience for the town itself. These Chase Bar & Grill trends are starting to merge the "fast food" or "chain restaurant" experience with Santa Barbara dining.

We parked in the lot behind Chase and entered thru the back door and were seated immediately. Had a reservation "Open Table" on the internet. The food was as good as ever, as we have been here many times over the years. The menu had something for everyone. Mine was the best Calamari steak. All seven of us were very happy. The service was excellent, not hurried, which was fine for this party. It was a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

was great , now very poor

This was my favorite place in SB. and I am sad to say it is heading in the wrong direction. Tried it again this week . Waitress was very complaisant. only a few tables eating so don't blame it on a busy night. #1. .ordered wine came out wrong . # 2..Ordered dinner with soup and salad first . Dinner came but no soup or salad first. # 3 ..Dinner came ,"Chicken Marsala". No wine sauce or mushrooms on the dry out very very thin sliced chicken. when told the waitress it was not correct she put the menu in front off me and said SHOW ME WHAT IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE . after that I walked out and when to Mexican . NEVER to eat there again . maybe drinks in the future . SAD it has gone this way after many years past off a very nice joint.

amazing, just amazing!!!!

food and service is incredible !old school feel.Italian New York style restaurant, kind of feels like Rao’s in New York, this place is a must if you're in Santa Barbara and want some good Italian. Mangia bene, ridi spesso, ama molto. Buon appetito!

Think twice

Despite several less than great past experiences at Chase over recent years, we tried again tonight. Food and service were both uncharacteristically poor. Dinner tonight had pork in a chicken salad. After alerting the waiter to the problem the salad was taken back and after 15 minutes returned to the table. All surface pork had been picked out but one layer below the lettuce there was still ample pork. Only a weak 'I only work here' response from the waiter. Our last visit here.

I plan on visiting my hometown soon and this used to be one of my favorite hangouts. I hope to find good customer service, and of course the great food. DON"T disappoint me please.

Holiday Disaster
Reviewer: Nancy from Santa Barbara, CA
Although the service was ok, the food was completely disappointing. Not only did it take an hour, but was tiny , over cooked portions with no presentation ! The shrimp piccata with Alfredo was just horrible. Also, with a party of 10, the manager was ungracious and rude.

We have many choices in San Diego , but when we ate at the Chase I can honestly say the service and food was excellent. I see some negative comments here, maybe some people are never satisfied. Our experience was FIVE STARS. !!
