First visit after shortly opening
Reviewer: Mike from Santa Barbara, CA
Came here shortly after they opened. I guess there was little notice on the change. I was slightly amused watching people come to the front, look at the sign, then look up and down the street trying to figure out if they were at the right address. I tried the chuletas in pasilla. The dish was served with the meat was cut off the bone (though the bone was left in the sauce) and with potatoes. The sauce itself was very rich and thick, reminding me of some the moles Iíve had. It came with beans, rice and tortillas. The tortillas were obviously handmade and quite good. Both the beans and the rice were above average. I noticed some other patrons having some of their soups. One was an abondingas that looked delicious and Iíll be tempted to try on another visit. Itís a good addition to the area and their prices are not out of line with what the others are charging. In fact, they are good value considering the quality of the food.

Great first visit

I had the Enchiladas which were delicious. They have a pretty good kick so make sure you enjoy spicy food! The rice and salad that it is served with were fine, however the beans were out of a can which is the only negative.

Apparently the owner of the market said it was Ok to this place's owner according to a worker I talked to there, sorry I did not mention that but definitely park at your own risk! I was able to find Hollister street parking.

I would not suggest that patrons of the restaurant use the parking lot of another business (the market across the street. ) That doesn't seem fair to the patrons of the market. If I owned the market and saw that other businesses' customers were using my lot, I would be on the phone PRONTO with a towing company. That would be an expensive lunch!

Great Food

Like the Milpas place great food. Arguably the best Mole in town. Also arguably the best tamales in town. In the old New China place in Old Town. Limited parking on street but can park at market across the street and walk over. More seating than the typical Mexican taquiera. #1 is the La Tapatia Bakery on Milpas, #2 in Ventura on Thompson. Huge hand made thick corn tortillas. Pork Tamales I enjoyed the most. Very reasonable prices. I think the best Mexican place in Old Town(tried them all). Now if they just turn down the Mexican music volume a bit they would be perfect. Nice people there, bilingual ordering/clientele.
