Authentic Mexican
Reviewer: Glenn from Buellton
Very authentic stuff here, menu is in spanish only and most patrons are hispanic. Some tables to eat at here, the rest is a cramped general store. Been there since 1956, nice(I think) owner or senior man in charge there. The food was very authentic tasting, price is not Lily's Tacos cheap though.

Great Chili Relleno,great flavor.

Service was great. Loved the chili relleno, went here twice while we stayed here. Second time chili relleno burrito. yum, yum, And the carnitas meat is very good.

Great Place for Mexican Food!
Reviewer: Joyce from Manhattan Beach CA
We have been eating at Reyes Market for about 10 years when we come to Carpinteria about once a month. Sal and his staff do a great job of cooking "real" Mexican food. The kitchen looks spotless from the counter. We usually have the Carnitas burrito which is excellent. We wish this Mexican food was available in LA where we live.

Best Mexican Food in Carp
Reviewer: Isabela from Santa Barbara, CA
I love coming to Carp specifically to eat @ Reyes. Our family favorites depending on how hungry we are, range from the carne asada burritos, carne asada tortas, caldos and chilaquiles. I appreciate that in this economy, they still serve the same amount of high quality food at the same price. I know other restaurants have reduced their portions and increased prices; NOT REYES. Now, for those people who do go over board like taking EXTRA salsa cups for the ONE taco, yes, you should pay extra. I've seen people take more than a normal amount of lemons, jalapenos and extras, YOU SHOULD BE CHARGED for that. For Rachelle, you must have fallen under that category, don't take advantage of their generosity! That family is the best and are a great asset to the community.

good food not worth the attitude!

This place use to be a place where we would go to for burritos after school and on weekends later in life after a hangover...but lately it seems that success has brought greed to this family and they charge for everything!, a lemon, a spoon you name it! and it comes with an attitude to top it off. Also i get that prices went up so restaurant must increase prices but this place reduced portions as well!!! thats chicken! And its too bad because i know a lot of locals who have stopped eating their yummy food due to this very reason including myself!

Best Mexican food in the Caprpinteria area

OK first off I'm Mexican and I have never found a good Mexican food place in Carpinteria or Santa Barara. Until the last time I went to Carpinteria I uusually go up to Carpinteria once a year. And this place is awesome. It's very authentic Mexican food. So if you are looking for some real mexican food this is the place to go.

Burritos the size of bricks!
Reviewer: eric from carpinteria,ca
Burritos here are usually very well stuffed(I usually have a hard time finishing one). You need to go at a time when it has been busy to make sure the food you get is fresh. There has been a time or two that i have gotten slighty drier meat. The carne asada with chile relleano burrito is really good stuff and the carne asada torta is pretty damn good too. Friendly Family staffs the place and are very helpful.

By Far one of the Best in the Santa Barbara Area...
Reviewer: JS from Goleta, CA
I recently started working down in the Carpinteria area and stumbled upon this place when looking for a lunch spot. What a gem! As soon as I saw the tortillas were made in house by hand and a selection of meat from buche to carintas, I had high hopes. Well I was not let down and have returned many times since. The market itself is relatively small and most of the buisness seems to be done with the taqueria. I have sampled a wide variety of items on the menu, from the chilequiles (excellent, spicy!) to coctel de cameron,, bistec ranchero (made fresh to order) all excellent. I usually order a plate with a choice of meat (the carintas, chile verde are among my favoites) and they are accompianed by very tasty beans topped with a little queso fresco, rice, and a LARGE stack of fresh tortillas, all for under $10. This place beats the overhyped, overrated, and overpriced taquerias that are frequently reviewed on here. Give it a try! Also the service, same guy behind the counter everytime I've been in, food comes out FAST! Highly recomended.
