A fire started on Sunday morning, October 13, 2024 in a storage room at The Chase Restaurant, 1012 State Street, and firefighters were able to put out the blaze within a half hour. Smoke and water damage caused the restaurant to close until it could be fixed. Reader Primetime tells me that workers unlocked the door and have started renovating the building. There is no estimated time of completion but they hope to be done by Memorial Day weekend, if not sooner.

Will be excited to go back for their great chicken noodle soup! I also hope they clean up/disinfect the dining furniture they left out there for the last 6 months…if those chairs could talk! Would be even more insulting if they replaced it with all new stuff, that would just mean the last 6 months of the eyesore they left behind was unnecessary and disrespectful to their neighbors IMO Surprised Friends of State Street didn’t step in to help, sure wouldn’t be the DO or the city to care about how it looks or affects others
