Last July 2023 I broke the news that Wexler’s Deli was coming to the Santa Barbara Public Market. The eatery opened April 8, 2024. Reader IMissRexofSB tells me that Wexler’s Deli has closed after 6 months in business. Yelp also reports that they are closed. Have no fear, though. Last August Etty’s Jewish Deli & Bakery opened inside the nearby Jewish Federation building at 524 Chapala Street.

What happened? We loved that place for all our jewish deli needs. sad.
In search of the best deli, I was very disappointed in the quality. Not surprised at all.
Glad it’s gone. Was so bad every time even with new ownership. Let’s see if Big T’s can improve on it what was lacking
I was so excited for them to open and I don’t think I have ever been so disappointed by a restaurant. It was an atrocity.
They came in hot with pricing
Hmm. Something doesn’t add up. It was open yesterday, and I bought a bagel there.
I think John reported that another business took over the space.
I was in the public market yesterday and Wexler’s is still open. They have a sign posted that the business is now locally owned and have reduced their prices.
The new owner should consider changing the name of the business. Maybe it will resonate with visitors from LA, but the local band is tarnished.
I wonder if Yetz’s took it over – Wexler’s was using their bagels.
I was there once and could not see paying $26.00 for a PASTRAMI even it it had 12 oz of pastrami. Who needs 12 oz? Could not get a half. Norton’s deli is tops
