While in Montecito yesterday I also stopped by the future home of East Valley Kitchen, formerly Montecito Wine Bistro, and was surprised to see actual construction going on. During all my visits during regular business hours, I never saw any activity at this address, which for decades was the home of Cafe del Sol. The popular eatery later moved near the Bird Refuge where it had another great, long run. The interior work at East Valley Kitchen continues to appear to be stalled, with the walls stripped to the studs for months, and no obvious activity. However, during this most recent visit there were workers outside, jack hammering cement on the right side of the building where the patio is, next to a creek.

Wasn’t Cafe del Sol across from the Bird Refuge? This place was Piatti originally.
It moved to the bird refuge after decades in the upper village. It had a great run at the bird refuge too.
