Last May reader Primetime told me that one of the oldest restaurants in Santa Barbara, Arnoldi’s Café, which was founded by Giuseppe and Ilda Arnold in 1937, at 421 East Cota Street, has closed after the death of co-owner David Peri. I was also told that the closure might be temporary. Here are some updates:
Wednesday, August 21: Reader Kelly W.: “I have seen the lights on in Arnoldi’s the last few days and the front door open today.”
Thursday, August 22: Reader Steve H.: “Arnoldi’s might reopen tomorrow, Friday, depending on final permitting. It’s been repainted and slightly redecorated inside. It’ll be run by Dave Peri’s granddaughter. I’ll keep you posted. ”
Friday, August 23: Reader Temmo: “I emailed Arnoldi’s yesterday, and got a reply today (from Sara Skrinski, perhaps the granddaughter?) that ‘we are open!’ This should get more widely publicized!”
Saturday, August 24: Reader Jeanette Arnoldi: “Arnoldi’s Cafe has reopened under ‘New Business Owner’ Sara Skrinski”
I emailed Arnoldi’s yesterday, and got a reply today (from Sara Skrinski, perhaps the granddaughter?) that “we are open!”
This should get more widely publicized!
