Reader Jennifer M. let me know that Trattoria Vittoria, which opened at 30 East Victoria Street in March 2007, is closing. A sign on the window reads:

Trattoria Vittoria Closed. Last days Fri/Sat. Unfortunately, we are closing down and unable to open tonight. We will be open Friday and Saturday, 5/17 and 5/18, from 5:00-10:00pm for our last dinner services with a limited menu. Reservations are available on OpenTable. We hope you will join us to say goodbye!

The best eggplant parmigiana I have ever had. So sad

  3. Jill Nida says:

We are very surprised and saddened by this news. It is such a nice local family friendly restaurant, Gary and I will really miss it! It especially comes as a surprise since the landlord just remodeled the restrooms. What happened?

  4. Ralph Waterhouse says:

Sad to hear that one of our go to downtown restaurants is closing.
Always had great atmosphere and excellent food,
A place where we would meet friends at the bar for a drink before dinner and then sit down and be served good by friendly staff.

Their Facebook post states that “the business is being sold and will not remain open for operations in the meantime”. Any idea who bought it and what it will become?

  6. Andrew M. Gault says:

This really saddens me. My wife and I (and friends) would eat at Trattoria at least twice a week. Their food was excellent. The service was superb. It was just “our” restaurant. We always tried to be seated in the last both in back. Darn!! One of the best in Santa Barbara.

  7. Clara says:

I heard that there was an ownership struggle after the previous silent partner passed away. The kids forced the other partner out and lots of people quit due to that, and ultimately the kids weren’t able to keep the business running more than a year.

  8. Hefe says:

Hopefully the new owners will have the original eggplant parm on the menu.

  9. Brier says:

There were a bunch of people standing in front of it two nights ago, they had a reservation & were super bummed that nobody told them the restaurant was closed & they had to make other last-minute plans for their birthday celebration.
