ISLA VISTA FOOD CO-OP COMING TO DOWNTOWN

The Santa Barbara Independent, where The Restaurant Guy has a weekly column, reports that the Isla Vista Food Co-op will take over the Cantwell’s Market & Deli space at 1533 State Street. Apparently some version of Cantwell’s may share space with the co-op. Last March I broke the news that the property where Cantwell’s Market resided is slated to be turned into a new four-story mixed-use development after which the eatery would return.

  1. Meridith Moore says:

I went there yesterday, it’s only two blocks from my home and I’m thrilled to have access to fresh veg and fruit. They’ve started to bring in the produce and the clerk said there’d be more of the things the co-op carries coming in each day.
