Pueblo Pollo at 2984 State Street closed last August. Reader Malik tells me they plan to reopen this month at 6578 Trigo Road in Isla Vista, the former home of Checo’s Mexican restaurant, Mojo, 805 Kabob, Lovin Oven Mediterranean Bakery & Cafe, Cafe Int’L, and others.

Interesting. I understand they rebranded so they wouldn’t have to pay el pollo loco. The portions were huge and they were nice people. But the place was either jumping or dead, near the end unfortunately usually the latter.
I don’t really get this move, this is a revolving door spot – and not even one of the ones on Pardall which has more traffic.
