In May of this year I wrote that Happy Cat Eats is coming to 23 East Cabrillo Boulevard, next to Oku. This space was originally going to be a restaurant named “Leadbetter” and is the former home of Wheel Fun and L.T. Cinnamon.  I stopped by and can see that construction has started but some work remains.

The eatery is still deciding whether to have a grab & go counter or table service. I am told that the the service might also be like The Shop on Milpas where everything is to-go but there are tables on-site to dine at. Happy Cat Eats and sister restaurant Oku will have overlapping hours on weekends so you will be able to grab a snack or drink while waiting in line for dinner at Oku. The crew is currently tasting items that are being considered for the menu which will offer Californian Asian cuisine. Happy Cat Eats is shooting for a January 2024 opening.
