While stopping by the future home of Alma Fonda Fina restaurant in the Vons Shopping Center on September 10th I noticed that a new sign was up for Pavilions, which is replacing Vons. Pavilions is the “upscale” sister chain to Vons. I spoke to an employee who said that the transition is now complete, with new floors and a new deli area installed, and that the only thing remaining to do is some construction in the back near the refrigerators and a little more exterior work. Having been raised nearby it was quite strange to see the Vons sign gone, which had been there since 1968.
