MR. B CLOSES

Reader Andre let me know that Mr B Restaurant & Café in La Cumbre Plaza, which started offering Jordanian cuisine in December 2021, has closed:

“Went by Mr Bs today and it was closed down permanently. Sign is down, windows are covered.”

Yelp confirms the news.

No disrespect to the dearly departed, but I’ve never even heard of that place. Maybe their first mistake was opening up in a ghost town of a center? Macerich is a disaster, they really messed that place up.

Went once when it was new, and it was very enjoyable. Unfortunately, since Vons went super-upscale to Bristol Farms, I have zero reason to visit LCP. And I just apparently never got a craving for Jordanian food again. Such a bummer for a very outgoing and friendly family-owned business!

Only reason to go to LCP these days is Lure, Islands, and Williams Sonoma, bulldoze the rest of it for all I care, it looks like a set for an episode of The Last of Us over there.

The crazy bit is they allowed Macerich to manage Paseo Nuevo in 2009, *after* they trashed La Cumbre.

They then put (IMO) one of the final nails in downtown by replacing Barnes and Noble with H&M.

I tried it once. It was good but seemed a tad expensive for what you got. Sorry to see them go though.
