La Unica is NOT open yet at 3771 State Street but hopes to be within a week or so. The restaurant, which specializes in street tacos from the Jalisco region of Mexico, will be run by Carlos Luna, owner of the hugely popular Los Agaves restaurants as well as Santo Mezcal and Flor de Maíz. They had a one-day test run last Friday and invited some friends to give it a try. I was lucky enough to be on the list and enjoyed a variety of tacos and tostadas. The menu will also include tortas and burritos. I have little doubt that Luna has another home run on his hands. Can’t wait to come back!
