See’s Candies coming to Camino Real Marketplace

Earlier this month reader Sande sent me a tip that See’s Candies will be opening a new store in the Calle Real Shopping Center in Goleta. I checked about a dozen empty storefronts in that plaza and all had a for-lease sign except one, next to Kyle’s Kitchen, which I proudly predicted would be the future home of the famous confectionery. Reader Natalie quickly shot that down, telling me that the space will soon be a home goods store called Macher Shop.

Reader Sweet Tooth then had a good idea. They realized that the best way to find information about See’s Candies is to, well, contact See’s Candies. So they did and received this response: “Thank you for visiting us at The Rumor is true! We are very excited to be opening a new location at Camino Real Marketplace, 7044 Market Place Drive, Goleta CA 93117. We estimate opening by late Summer or early Fall and hope to see you there! Sweetest Regards, Lisa Tate, See’s Candies.” I stopped by and found out that the See’s representative is referring to the former-GNC space immediately to the left of the Goleta Police Department and Camino Real Cinemas.

I thought the Independent wanted to use and showcase John’s site info to shine their product, which I love and have been reading since it was the News & Review. It’s all good, they add to each other and our community. I’m sure they proofread it. Maybe John could use a free proofreader/copy editor, but that would entail adding another person to his busy life. (Yes, I’ve been a professional proof reader and am retired. I did not see the first draft that contained the typo.)
