Broad Street Oyster Company coming to downtown

Reader Steve C. tells me that Broad Street Oyster Company at 23359 Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu is opening a new location at 418 State Street, the former home of Cubaneo. Their website describes the business as follows: “Founded by Christopher Tompkins as a seafood centric mobile raw bar. Broad Street Oyster Co. planted permanent roots in Malibu during the summer of 2019, the grown-up version of a pop-up, and the ultimate LA seafood destination. A little bit coastal and a whole lot of a party, Christopher Tompkins’s restaurant is tucked into a Malibu strip mall and is the perfect setting to grab a beer or some natural wine to accompany California’s favorite lobster roll.” Word on the street is that they will open Thursday, January 13th.

Cubaneo is gone. That middle space has been closed off for a while for construction.

wow, thats a shock! but, didnt they received a $350k Restaurant Relief Grant? AND Venus in Furs is also for sale, sounds like a good time to cash it in!! The demand for 400block will definitely be enticing, especially with Council proposing to find a way to close that section off too? Maybe Cubaneo and the Diner both received an offer they couldnt refuse..good for them if that is the case!
