Goodbye from Jeannine’s Bakery on Figueroa Street

Jeannine’s Bakery which opened in September 2008 on East Figueroa Street has decided to close their doors permanently. Jeannine’s has published a heartfelt message to you about the change and also offer details about the reopening of their other locations:

It is with great regret that we have made the decision to close the restaurant on Figueroa Street permanently. Our Jeannine’s family has so enjoyed being a part of the Downtown community for the past 15 years, and we are especially grateful to La Arcada for having provided such a beautiful home for all of us. This decision was one of the most difficult that we have had to face during these unprecedented times.

Since 1987, it has been our honor to participate in your celebrations and weekend brunches. We are grateful that you have shared your jury duty breaks, your business meetings, and just your everyday routines with us. We have many fond memories to take with us and we hope you do as well. We look forward to many more years of service at our other three restaurants.

We have taken great precautions to protect our staff and patrons during this health crisis. We have had only one positive test, back in April, and are proud that we have had no further cases within our Jeannine’s Family. Each of our valued employees has been mindful of their actions in their personal as well as their work lives, and this has contributed to keeping us all safe. We have been so grateful to be spared the worst of this virus so far, and our stores are currently taking a temporary pause while the health system in our community is under intense pressure.

As conditions improve, we hope that you will visit us at one of our other locations. Our Montecito location at 1253 Coast Village Road is scheduled to re-open the second week of January. The Upper State Street store at 3607 State Street and the Goleta store at 7060 Hollister Avenue will re-open as soon as the restrictions on our industry have been eased, and we are able to seat guests on our patios again. Please visit our website for the most current information.

We have been blessed with so many loyal patrons over the years. Seeing you every day creates the sense of community that makes our work fulfilling. We trust that better days lie ahead and are anxious to be back to work as soon as possible! Please be safe and try to remember to practice kindness and patience as we all struggle to navigate this difficult time together.
