Sprouts Farmers Market opens Wednesday

Arizona-based Sprouts Farmers Market opens a 24,000-square-foot store on September 2 at 29 South Milpas Street, the former home of Trader Joe’s which moved to a new location up the street. This will be the second Sprouts Farmers Market in our area which opened at 175 North Fairview Avenue in Goleta in August 2016. Sprouts has more than 340 stores in 23 states. The grocer offers a wide selection of natural and organic foods, including fresh produce, bulk foods, vitamins and supplements, packaged groceries, meat and seafood, deli, baked goods, dairy products, frozen foods, natural body care and household items.

In 1943, founder Henry Boney opened a fresh fruit stand near La Mesa, California, which grew into a handful of open-air farmers markets. In 1969, his sons developed Boney’s Market, which grew into a beloved community grocery store. By 1997, the family’s unique set of small-box farmers market grocery stores were renamed Henry’s Farmers Market after their father. Sprouts Farmers Market was founded in 2002 in Chandler, Arizona by members of the Boney family.

Went early this morning and was not disappointed. Great meat & fish department with knowledgable and attentive staff. Produce outstanding as well. My advice is to avoid going late afternoon and evening due to the relative lack of parking.

No more trips to Vons Montecito for me!!!

Do they have an area where you can get small desk plants?

  3. Peter says:

Pretty good variety, but the ivy plants were my favorite.
