Long time Paseo Nuevo tenant Wetzel’s Pretzels at 723 State Street has closed their doors permanently. Wetzel’s Pretzels had a once-prime location at the southern entrance to the mall, next to dearly departed Macy’s. PokeCeviche, which opened in the middle of Paseo Nuevo in February 2018, is closing its doors at the end of August. I am told that staff will be transferring to their Isla Vista location at 901 Embarcadero del Mar.

I suspect many more paseo nuevo closures. Between the numerous shutdowns, and declining foot traffic as well as construction.. they will have to reinvent themselves entirely
Why did they close. We loved that ice cream and cervliche. So sad.
