Readers Lynn and Alphonso tell me that lots of workers have been seen on the patio and possibly inside the recently-closed Dutch Garden restaurant at 4203 State Street. I am told that the iconic Dutch Garden sign is still on the roof. Rumor has it that the kitchen and landscaping are in the process of being updated and that the restaurant might reopen in a few months as the Dutch Garden and have the same recipes that it had before.

GREAT NEWS!!!
I hope this is true – there was nothing like the Dutch Garden in SB – the chef’s Jerusalem Artichoke soup was my favorite
I so hope the Dutch will reopen and serve the delicious and authentic German cuisine so many of us came to know and love. How I loved the schnitzel and sausages along with the outstanding beer selection. Tomorrow wouldn’t be soon enough! And, John, I know you will keep us posted.
We love the Dutch Garden!!!!!
VERY EXCITING! If true
It’s true. Brothers Matt and Daniel English and I plan to open in 4-6 weeks if everything goes as planned. Same menu just a bigger patio to get us through these weird times. Ken and Laurie have given there blessing and recipes. We are not looking to change it, we just want to preserve it. Look forward to seeing you all when we get the lights on.
This is great! Hope they also keep the German/European beers focus as well.
So, the news that their lease was up was false? They just decided to hang it up and retire?
I never heard that their lease was up.
