Reader Larry let me know that Lilsey’s Wood-Fired Pizza at 2840 De la Vina Street recently changed ownership and is now known as Santa Barbara Wood-Fired Pizza. I called the eatery and they said the menu has not changed. From 2011 – 2018 the restaurant was known as Nicky D’s Wood-Fired Pizza.

Hey guys – I think this is as close to true NY-style pizza as you’re going to get within 100 miles of here? As Long as they Don’t Change Anything –
Lilsey’s Wood Fired Pizza Wood Fired Pizza may be the best in SB! They have retained Nicky’s New York recipe and the large is around 18” in diameter. We recently picked up one cheese and one pepperoni pizzas and both were devoured by our house guests wanting to know where I got them.
Best pie in town! Nick sold it to his right hand man who, I feel, didn’t get the marketing (read: name) right. It was uncommon and hard to remember. Good luck to the new owners and don’t change the recipe!
Agreed, if you know what to order, they can crank out what I consider to be among the best wood fired pizza in SB. I would suggest ordering takeout, as the ambience leaves alt to be desired…
What do you order?
Your new website is very slow. I’m in the produce business and have been using your website to find new restaurants that are opening. Ive gotten so frustrated with it that I go to other websites even though yours has the most info.
Still working on it!
They also have a delicious eggplant parm sandwich on menu.
I ate at Nicky D’s a couple times in their first year. They were so effin close as far as I’m concerned. Soggy centers (not just floppy NY style slices – I know the difference), and being just far enough away to not warrant a special trip meant I never went back again.
Perhaps I should have. Best of luck to those carrying the torch now.
Best fries, hamburgers and pizza. fanstastic
