Reader Annie sent me a photo of a new sign for Embermill that has appeared at 1031 State Street, the former home of Aldo’s and The Copper Coffee Pot. I Googled “Embermill Santa Barbara” and there is very little information available but I did notice that they filed an application to trademark their name in the restaurant category.

Hmm – wondering if it’s any relation to the exalted Ember in Arroyo Grande…
Great article on it in Noozhawk (BizHawk). Doesn’t seemed related to Embers.
Noozhawk reports it will be a Caribbean restaurant run by chef Harold Welch of the short-lived but tasty Harold’s Caribbean Kitchen as well as several other places. Sounds promising!
Worked with Harold years ago at Cottage Hospital. He’s a talented chef but a bit of a diva. Guess most cooks/chefs are though.
“He’ll also have some lunch items under $10.”
Isn’t there a city ordinance against that? At least it feels like it…
