Readers tell me that Basil’s Italian restaurant at 608 Anacapa Street has closed and that the place is empty. Yelp reports Basil’s closed as well. Basil’s web site says that they are open for business as usual but it is not uncommon for a departing business to make updating their web site a low priority. Basil’s opened in September 2017.

That’s really a shame. They actually had really good food.
But, location makes all the difference. I hope they open again somewhere else.
Agree. Tried them during restaurant week and was pleasantly surprised how good it was. I think they could make it in a smaller square footage building elsewhere in town.
They had delicious food – went there three times with friends. The owner and staff were friendly and generous. They have another restaurant down south. Best wishes to them.
