CALLE REAL UPDATE

I was driving on Calle Real in Goleta recently and took notes for an update to share with you. The former homes of El Pollo Loco, Outback, and Good Earth Restaurant have large “for lease” banners on display in front of their respective buildings while the former home of Denny’s has a smaller “available” sign on the window near the front door.

Chicken in a Barrel BBQ at 5711 Call Real (formerly Petrini’s) has their official sign mounted on the front of the building and the interior looks nearly done. I wouldn’t be surprised if they opened in the next month or two.

Denny’s and Outback have been closed for quite some time. I wonder what the issue(s) are with the locations, that nothing else has moved in.

  2. Bill says:

i WOULD THINK RENTS ARE A REAL BIG PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WITH THE IMPENDING RAISE OF THE MINIMUM WAGE AND I HEAR THAT THE PERMITS ARE HARD TO GET THRU THE CITY. WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF THEY PUT NO PARKING IN DOWN TOWN GOLETA DUE TO PROPOSED BIKE LANES?

  3. Ed Adams says:

The landlord for this center has forced many stores out restaurants or not because greedy increases. Has for many years.

  4. Hefe says:

Is the increase in restaurant square footage relative to population an issue? Between the funk zone, public market, lagoon district, Californian development and Camino Real seems to be a lot of food and drink space coming in.

  5. Brendan says:

I work near Chicken in a Barrel and heard they plan to open in about three weeks.

  6. Eric says:

Supposedly El Pollo and Outback have leases or are close to having them.
