COMING TO THE FUNK ZONE

This just in from reader Brendan: “An alcohol license sign for a ‘beer and wine eating place’ has appeared in the window of the building at 121 East Yanonali Street, formerly occupied by L’s Kitchen. There is no business name, but the company name is ‘Acme Hospitality’, which is the Funk Zone powerhouse behind The Lark, Lucky Penny, Loquita, etc.”

Sure miss Lorraine at L’s Kitchen. She got chased out with a triple rent increase with a 60 day notice.
The “Funk Zone” is starting to resemble an Encino strip mall.

I liked Lorraine too. That place was nice.
However to call the Funk Zone an Encino strip mall might be a bit too far. 🙂 The ACME group is running circles around this area, because they understand the importance of service. Yes, it’s not cheap, but they have brought some great dining options to our community. I just wish someone else would understand the formula and challenge them as well — because we’d all benefit! Still hoping one day Santa Barbara gets on the map as a Foodie destination.
