EAST BEACH GRILL REINCARNATED

Reader Lynn says that locals like me who were saddened by the closure of East Beach Grill in January will be happy to know that the former owner is now serving the same breakfast menu, including his amazing blueberry wheat germ pancakes, at his other restaurant, Char West on Stearns Wharf, daily from 7 a.m.

At Char West you get to eat that same tasty food like Banana Wheatgerm Pancakes while looking down the coast at an incredible, beautiful, and stunning view. It’s local so you’ll see some of the same people from EBG at Cabrillo Pavilion. All of us fans still have hopes that Francisco can reopen EBG when the building is finished. Any chance?

No, according to what Francisco told me and the fact that he’s fine with just having the one place. Agree that you still get the same great pancakes, but the reason I went was for the crispy thin sliced breakfast potatoes which have been replaced the same kind of soggy chunks commonly found elsewhere.

Calling that location Char West is an affront to the memory of the uptown Char West location. I looooong for a Gordo with Cheese…

Besides the potatoes, the other difference at the Char West location is paper plates and plastic utensils. Next time I may try bringing my own plate and silverware.
