SUBWAY AT STATE AND MISSION TO CLOSE

Reader Chad says that he was on the bus recently and I saw a “closing May 23rd” sign on the Subway at 1936 State Street next to the 7-Eleven at Mission Street. I called the restaurant and confirmed the news. This Subway location opened November 2015. The 11 other South Coast Subway locations are open for business as usual.

Must really have been suffering. Less than 3 years would definitely result in some lease termination penalties

Still hard to look at that monstrosity of a building in that pleasant neighborhood. So out of character.

Oh well, no more unappealing than The Galleria was to look at when it opened at State and La Cumbre.

No accounting for taste – except my own! LOL!

Nice end cap on a busy corner. Retail locations can be really fickle. I believe if it was in the 7 eleven sideit succeeds. Probably didn’t help that 7 eleven and a am/PM have become convenience food locations.

Very sad news that the other 11 locations will remain open
