HARRY’S PLAZA CAFÉ 50TH ANNIVERSARY

Reader Brendan let me know that Harry’s Plaza Café at 3313 State Street is having an eye-popping deal as a 50th anniversary special all through the month of January. Any day Sunday through Thursday, you can get a plate of Omaha slow-roasted tri-tip with fries and salad for $8. No substitutions or take-outs.

Turns out there’s even more to this. I spoke with the manager last night who said that they will be continuing special anniversary deals all year, with a different deal every month!

Harry’s management is very secretive about upcoming monthly specials, to the point that even the servers aren’t told what they are until a day or so beforehand. My GUESS is that it will be some sort of poultry dish (maybe hot turkey sandwich?), as the specials so far have been the Omaha sandwich. steak sandwich, beef dip, fish & chips, prime rib sandwich, and whitefish piccata. Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be great. I just wish they’d continue these monthly specials forever. In May, when prime rib sandwiches were $11, I ate at Harry’s nearly 20 times.
