Reader Jerry needs your help:
“What market (Lazy Acres, Gelson’s, etc.) has good take-out fried chicken?”
Gelson’s has very good fried chicken (also chicken strips) at its Deli Carving Station, along with many other sides and entree items.
The new Creekside
Ralphs on Carrillo. Excellent.
Albertson’s, Calle Real, Goleta!
Yeah Ralphs does a good job in my experience. They have pressure-fryers and If you can get it fresh then even better.
It’s true that Ralph’s on Carrillo has the best. We did a taste test with Gelson’s, Lazy and Ralph’s. I don’t think WF has fried chicken.
“Fried Chicken” ??
Try simply ROASTED chicken : it is delicious and so much more healthy.
Lazy Acres, Whole Foods and Gelson’s have great one (and very cheap for the size and quality of the bird..)
Roasted is good. But, sometimes you just gotta have fried. No Popeye’s or Church’s in the area. So, we have this thread.
Try roasted chicken? NO. Why? Because the question was where to find fried chicken (and chicken strips). Nowhere did the person mention, question, or insinuate anything about roasted chicken. Why would you introduce roasted chicken into a discussion that is 100% involved with fried chicken (chicken strips are also fried).
My vote goes to Gelson’s for good fried chicken.
