Silvergreens restaurant at 900 Embarcadero Del Mar in Isla Vista has been temporarily closed for a few months as the parent company focuses on the new Kyle’s Kitchen restaurant on Hollister Avenue. I am told by management that the signs for Kyle’s Kitchen plastered all over the front of Silvergreens refer to the new Hollister location and do NOT indicate that a Kyle’s Kitchen is replacing Silvergreens. I am told that Silvergreens will return but was not given a reopening date.

I have really enjoyed every visit to Silvergreens – both locations. While I have also enjoyed Kyles, this is disappointing to me.

Silvergreens was closed all summer too. Gotta think that concept may be on its way out.

That’s pretty prime IV real estate… one would think they’d keep it open!

Since the downtown location got rid of the Silvergreen concept we’ve been in far less. Was much more enjoyable when they offered the Kyle’s burgers in addition to the Silvergreens menu. Silvergreens was great for a quick “healthyish” bite that wasn’t completely bland and severely dated like Natural Cafe.

I agree. It’s a real head-scratcher for me to see the way they seem to be pushing Kyle’s Kitchen over Silvergreens. The Silvergreens menu was more varied and appealing. It’s cool that with Kyle’s Kitchen they make donations to charities and so on, but the food is nothing but average burgers.
