Readers Steve H. and Peter T. tell me that The Goat Tree, which offers a bakery and meals with a slight Moroccan flavor, has opened inside the Californian Hotel at 120 State Street. The breakfast menu includes juices, smoothies, cereals and a variety of egg offerings. The all-day menu includes veggie dishes, humus, goat fries, soups, toast, fritters, lamb meatballs, along with a variety of sandwiches, salads and entrees. Entrees include sustainable salmon $22, market fish $24, chicken breast $20, skirt steak $28, Hope Ranch mussels $17, fish-stew-Bernard $28, rabbit + squid $26, short rib $28, chickpea-feta gnocchi $21 and whole heritage chicken $48. Hours are 6 a.m.-9 p.m. daily.

Actually not “inside” the hotel. It is a stand alone business on the northeasterly corner of State and Mason. Nice patio, beautiful interior, and looks like good quality. Perhaps a little expensive.

Thanks Steve H. for the menu.

Real goat fries? I so want to try them. Hope they’re very fresh. The fritter plate looks good too.
(I hope they’re not french fries with goat meat, but if they were, I’d think they had goat stew also.) Wish there was more goat meat on the menu.

The opening of the Entrada restaurants will interesting. Blue Water… Californian, Indigo. It appears to be a large amount of customers to serve. Will there be seafood , goat, fusion, brewery, wine, vegan? I wonder how many middle State St. restaurants will feel the difference?
