GOOD EARTH PIZZA COMING TO ISLA VISTA

David Singh, owner of Mesa Pizza Company at 315 Meigs Road, is opening a pizza parlor at 6576 Trigo Road in Isla Vista (next to 805 Kabob) called “Good Earth Pizza.” I originally wrote about this in 2010 (yes, 7 years ago) and thought that plans had fallen through but apparently they have not. It appears that construction was recently started and the back of the business, which used to have rental hot tubs years ago, is currently being demolished and transformed into a courtyard for pizza patrons. My guess is that the business is at least another year from opening making this the longest-running “coming soon” restaurant story I have ever followed (the previous record was 5 years, held by both Sublime at 901 North Milpas Street and Oliver’s at 1198 Coast Village). In my original story Singh told me it will have everything Mesa Pizza has on its menu, but with an environmental and health-conscious twist. Brown dough will be standard, white dough will be available upon request.

heck, I’ll just ask here; my memory’s going and I’m not a good map reader.

“… the back of the business, which used to have rental hot tubs years ago…”

Next door to veggie place and next to hot tub place?! Hello again childhood!

Any locals want to clarify for me? Thank you.

Please clarify what you want clarified.

Still looking for the name of the historical IV hot tub rental place. But mostly used and partied in a big redwood one at a colleague’s house around ’77 to ’79.

I thought the tub rental place had been named here; it was next to or close to a delicious “healthy” restaurant. I searched.

It may have been “Kabuki Gardens” ?? — that MUST have been it. I cannot remember the name of the restaurant; could’ve been Sun & Earth?

(One later tub rental place was on Cota, I think it was — ah, THE HOUR GLASS. It was very nice; misters over every tub; different-sized tubs to match your group size; partner or party.)

Thanks John, for asking. Hope other old timers chime in.

Haha, “Brown dough will be standard, white dough will be available upon request”. Is the brown dough made with good earth dirt?

  3. Gerald Bostock says:

Make mine white dough with gluten, please. 🙂

There was also Magic Waters on upper state somewhere near the Dutch Gardens.

but… its unique because you have to special order white dough!
