Reader Primetime heard that Bucatini, which recently closed its long time home at 436 State Street, is in early discussions to possibly open in Camino Real Marketplace in Goleta. Previously I reported that they were looking for a new home on State Street which might still be the case.

Unless Pascucci plans on closing it’s Camino location, I doubt they would put in a 2nd italian place in there…but based on the Yelp reviews, wouldn’t be completely out of the question. There really aren’t any other open spaces in there right now for restaurants. Plus Ca’ Dario is opening right across the street.

My neighbor told me she heard Trader Joes was moving into the center, any truth to that rumor? I hope so, the only parking lot worse than their Goleta location is the De La Vina one, closely followed by the Milpas one (which IS moving into the old Scolari’s space)

    • Jon says:

Trader Joe’s is expanding its Calle Real space as we speak, not moving to Camino Real Marketplace

      • John Dickson says:

Before Best Buy moved in, Trader Joe’s was in discussions with Camino Real Marketplace to divide up the then-CompUSA space and rent part of it. So they were definitely interested in Camino Real Marketplace at one time.

    • Eric says:

Although I’m sure a 2nd Goleta TJ’s would be very successful, the Sports Authority space is double the size of a TJ’s, but they would always split it.

Even though the current one is expanding, apparently it’s mostly for backroom storage, so it really won’t help much with the crowds there.

Pascucci is a total disappointment, Bucatini would be a huge improvement.
