Rusty’s Pizza at 6025 Calle Real in Goleta, across from the Fairview Shopping Center, plans to move down the street to a Rusty’s-owned property at 5934 Calle Real, the former home of Takenoya sushi. The new building will receive dramatic façade improvements including a large tower and arching entrance way. A complete set of plans can be viewed online.

Hopefully they have bathroom doors that actually lock. That’s the one thing I hate about the Storke Road location– the doors don’t lock! Their bathrooms have a saloon style door (swings open, no lock, no privacy).

I’m surprised by the design and elevations. Seems way to elaborate for the area and kinda looks like a “temple of pizza”, thing. Rusty’s is one of the best pizzas’ locally but this is way over-the-top for the location, me thinks.

Rusty, just save yourself the bucks and do better than the present location with some big changes to the new building and keep doing your usual thing.

Worried about the bathroom at the new Rusty’s? Really?

This article refers to the Fairview one not the Storke one I think. Storke one is cool with the bank vault though old bank etc and if you in the deaf community they have some Friday nites there as a group night fyi get together(SBCC affliated class). The ladies bathroom I can’t comment on…

Isn’t Rusty’s losing their lighthouse building down at the waterfront? If so, perhaps that’s why they are building such a “church of pizza” design here. They need to have at least one goofy building in their line up?

Is that Art Deco meets Mission style? Or a rocketship?

What John failed to mention is that this building will also be serving downtown Goleta as the new Amtrak station. jk
