Jill’s Place has been closed since a fire ravaged it in May of 2013. But disappointed diners are now in luck – Jill’s Place has fully reopened. After the fire gutted her restaurant, owner and local Jill Shalhoob took the opportunity to make her Santa Barbara institution even better. The restaurant interior received a major update. The ‘back of house’ is completely new, with all new cooking equipment. In addition to the fresh face, the classic Jill’s Place menu returns (steaks, chops, chicken, fresh fish, burgers and cocktails), along with a few additions. The renovated restaurant is open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday at its original location: 632 Santa Barbara Street.

Such great news. I’ve been following the opening on Facebook and with each bit of news I get happier that this SB institution was able to rise from the ashes – literally! Will be in for happy hour and dinner soon. Congratulations to Jill and the entire Shalhoob family!

Although I’ve switched to a gluten free diet since Jill’s Place doors closed, I’ve been craving the burgers for so very long! I stopped there recently at lunch time and ordered a burger without a bun — they were kind enough to accommodate me and put it on a plate with grilled onions and mushrooms. It was heaven! There’s something uniquely special about the burgers there and no other place is like it. Love the fries, too. Not as healthy as most of the food I eat, but so very worth the indulgence ;-D

A very welcome re-opening. Always unpretentious, good food. The salty mini-ribs appetizer!

Uh-oh… where are the mini-ribs on the new menu? Ack! Oh well, still plenty of great stuff!
