I was wondering if you, or any one of your followers, know of a bakery in town that sells cronuts.

    Absolutely no where in Santa Barbara sells Cronuts. Spudnuts et al sells simply deep fried croissants sometimes called doughsants, totally different thing.

    Cronut is a pastry invented and trademarked by Dominique Ansel Bakery in New York City. The technique used and execution of this pastry is at entirely differently level then what is being sold elsewhere. Sure deep fried dough is always pretty good, just don’t be fooled as you are not eating a Cronut.

      I am confident that Missazn knew that Cronut is a trademarked item only found at it’s original location in NY. She probably also refers to sparkling wine as Champagne, as EVERYONE does, and facial tissue as Kleenex. What she seeks is a pastry that is flaky like a croissant but also cooked and glazed like a doughnut, without having to travel to NY and wait in line to spend 5 dollars on a Cronut. Items similar to Cronuts, WHILE NOT EXACTLY Cronuts, are available locally as other commenters have mentioned.

    had a doughsant on sunday. maybe the cronut is different……..but the doughsant from spudnuts on upper state was wicked good.
