Reader Bob let me know that Takenoya at 5934 Calle Real in Goleta has closed. Bob says a hand written note is taped to the front door indicating that they are sorry to be closing and that it appears to be sudden. I called Takenoya, which opened in March 2005, and confirmed that they are no longer in business.

    How did they last as long as they did? Very surprising.

    I really enjoyed their seafood sumono salad up until the
    last owner change, I also enjoyed the dim sum when they had it;
    sure it was the pre-fab stuff, but I liked the ability to order
    several small plates – which is a pain to do at home.

    Is that the place with the deer out front? If so, it was not good!

  4. Justine says:

    I used to go for their all-you-can-eat dim sum deal… $15, I think. But haven’t been back since they stopped doing that.

    It was really good when they first opened. I went almost every time I was in Goleta. Then the servers changed, so I suppose the ownership did as well. It was night and day as far as the food quality goes. did not go back
