I have purchased a new camera for use with this blog and SantaBarbara.com in general. For the first time I am now using a full SLR camera instead of a pocket digital camera or iPhone. The first pictures taken with the new camera were of the Lark restaurant, mentioned above. The new toys include:
- 14.2-megapixel Nikon D3100 Digital SLR Camera
- Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical IF Macro Zoom Lens
- Nikon 12-24mm f/4G ED IF AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens
- SanDisk Extreme 32GB Flash Card
- Nikon SB 600 Shoe Mount Flash
- Gary Fong Flash Diffuser
How do you like the Tamron Lens, John? I’ve been flirting with buying one myself.
I have only been using the Nikon 12-24mm lens thus far. The Tamron 18-270mm arrives this Thursday. I will be leaving on vacation this weekend and will post some pictures taken with the Tamron. It is the only lens I am bringing with me.
You will LOVE the 12-24, John. Think twice about leaving it behind – very nice for a walk-around lens. That 6mm makes a BIG difference.
A quick click on the Restaurant Openings section should give you plenty of opportunities to try out the new camera. So, does the Lark look so nice because it is or is it just the high quality pictures?
You owe it to yourself to pickup a Black Rapid RS-7 Camera
Strap. Really makes it much more comfortable when carrying a SLR.
Congrats
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn’t heard of that product. It looks much more comfortable than the standard camera strap. Ill pick one up.
