Reader Pam tells me that State and Fig opened this week at 1114 State St. in La Arcada, replacing Whale Tail Deli. On August 8, 2011 I mentioned that this transition was taking place and that new management had taken over day to day operations of Whale Tail Deli. Husband & wife managers Patrick Casey and Marisa Moran were in escrow at that time.  I was told that State & Fig would be an Italian deli concept that will include a wood-burning pizza oven. Instead of a traditional salad bar they were planning an antipasto bar, in addition to pizza, salads, panini sandwiches and more.

    We went to State and Fig yesterday and can’t say enough about how great it is. Can’t find the restaurant on your website to review.
