A tipster tells me that “ANQI Bistro & Noodle Bar” has been taking a look at 18 E. Cota St., the former home of Cafe Luck.

I thought the same owners as Cafe Luck were remodeling it, to reopen as a new concept in a few months. I miss Luck, though, and its yummy sorbets.

What does the name mean? House of An + Noodle bistro? It sounds like a Vietnamese pho joint.

It’s http://www.anqibistro.com, they have a menu on the site and a bunch of flash. It’s no Cafe Luck, but the desserts do look more interesting than most of the other offerings in town.

Holy smokes! If what APC is saying is correct, this is incredible news. I am glad to see I was right. I am not sure how many locals have heard of Helen An and her restaurant empire. Her family runs the infamous Crustacean in Beverly Hills, which has been a local/celebrity favorite for (I am guessing) the last 20 years.

Looks like ANQI is a trendy new concept they are trying out. Looks like there’s a location in South Coast Plaza already.

John should really update his title. House of An is the name of the corporation. ANQI is the restaurant name.

Here’s some more info about the family and their restaurants. I am super excited though I kind of feel bad for them. They seem like good people but this restaurant will undoubtedly be a failure in Santa Barbara. The people here are simply not equipped to support this.

I heard somebody say (and it seems accurate) that SB doesnt take well to LA-type businesses.
