A French-American restaurant, brought to you by the 3 owners of Stella Mare’s in Montecito, will be opening in the 2nd week of May at 3302 McCaw Avenue near Los Positas and upper State Street. Here is a message from co-owner Philippe:

Hi John,

I know your rumor machine has been buzzing! Well it is working well (as always) and this is the story…

As we see the onset of spring it is time to welcome new beginnings and expansion.

As the Stella Mare’s family celebrates “Stella” turning sweet sixteen and “Events by Stella Mare’s Catering” turning ten, we are proud to announce our newest arrival…Café Stella.

Coming very soon, Café Stella, a French-American café, will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with indoor and outdoor seating, a full bar with bar seating, lounge areas and more.  Café Stella will be a great venue to eat, drink, go online, enjoy coffee, work, read the paper, have a glass of wine or meet friends for happy hour and our bar menu specials.

Expect to see some French food dishes as well as plenty of American classics…from crêpes, waffles, omelets, croissants, pain au chocolat, to salads, sandwiches, burgers, mussels and fries, roasted prime rib…just to name a few!

Coming soon at 3302 McCaw Avenue (off Las Positas between the Municipal Golf Course and Gelson’s) Café Stella will be open 8:00 am to 10 pm…seven days a week.

Stay tuned and…a bientôt!

Dear Profit of doom Uh Gee hows about congratulations and good luck! It would be nice to see someone bring a good successful operation to this Old location. Oh and by the way it has been 5 places over 50 years thats not so bad for Santa Barbara at all

The place looks spectacular from the minute you walk in the door it is well decorated in a casual cool eco-friendly wine country style! There is lots of room inside and outdoors on the patio making it a great spot for parties and small gatherings you could easily have a small function going on in the side room or one the Spacious Patios while the restaurant is buzzing with local action all while taking in the Great Mountain Views. This location has great potential with Phillipe from Stella Mare’s at the Helm, it is sure to be a success!!!

Grand opening this Friday (May 13th). And yes, I’m sure flip flops will be acceptable, it is intentionally designed to be less formal and more casual than the original Stella Mares.
