I received this press-release today from Pacifica Commercial Realty indicating that the sale of State & A Bar and Grill has officially been completed. The restaurant, which had been open for 28 years, closed last week.

The Santa Barbara landmark restaurant “State And A Bar & Grill” located the intersection of State and Anapamu Streets has been sold.  Pacifica Commercial Realty along with First Principle Business Brokers represented the Buyer and the Seller.

The State and A is one of the oldest continually operated restaurants in the Santa Barbara market, established by Gary Lynd and former partners in 1983.  The restaurant was listed on the market for $485,000 and included a Type 47 ABC liquor license.  The property consisted of approximately 5,000 square feet of inside and patio space seating, a total of approximately 150 customers.

The new owners plan to change the name to “Maggies at State & A“.  The restaurant will undergo a substantial remodel and is expected to re-open in the Fall.

For further information regarding this transaction you can reach Gene McKnight, Vice President at Pacifica Commercial Realty, 805-899-2484 or Robert Rauchhaus, First Principle at 805-669-8512

Too bad, I think we have all left some money there over the years. Hopefully there is a nice replacement.

It’s going to be much better than it has been in some time. They are bringing on a chef and growing some of the herbs and produce themselves.
