Victoria Court has a new tenant that caught my eye last weekend. A sign has appeared at 11 W. Victoria St, suite 10, the former home of Cafe Bianco, announcing the pending arrival this summer of an eatery named “Scarlett Begonia.” I spoke with owner Crista Fooks who tells me she will be serving Modern American cuisine for breakfast and lunch starting this June. “My mission is to offer organic, sustainable, local ingredients that are as fresh as you can get,” she said. Fooks has lived in Santa Barbara for 20 years, worked at Food & Home Magazine for 8 years, was the catering manager at the Four Seasons and attended culinary school at SBCC. Fooks tells me that her mother is a baker and will be leading the baking end of the business. She hopes to get a beer & wine license for the neighboring patio.
