The Santa Barbara Daily Sound has an article today about the closure of city parking Lot 10 (at Anacapa & Ortega) and how it is negatively affecting nearby restaurants. The four-story, 546-space garage has been undergoing a seismic retrofit since February. The article mentions several restaurants that have experienced a drop-off in sales including Arch Rock Fish, BlushParadise Cafe and The Habit. Many other businesses are affected as well. Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to go downtown to the region near Lot 10 and eat, drink and be merry.

We have been wanting to try Seagrass since it changed ownership, but every time we go by, the adjacent lots are all full so we just go elsewhere. Terrible timing for them when they are new and trying to build business.

Hi, John…please be sure to visit the other businesses as well while you’re down here. The 600 and 700 block of State have some great shops. Love your blog / website.

I really shouldn’t be surprised by this, but really? People consider it too onerous to find street parking or walk from one of the other lots only a couple blocks away? I guess the harsh Santa Barbara climate scared them off.

    Don’t forget about Dargan’s.

Not only the mentioned restaurants have been effected. The Press Room (cocktail pub) and Dargan’s (restaurant/pub) have also noticed a decline because the parking lot is closed.

FYI – the lot is open again.
