This is an update to Friday’s blog. Henrietta Forystek, owner of Max’s Restaurant at 3514 State St., tells me that her eatery has been renamed “Max’s Cucina” and will start serving Italian cuisine Tue-Sat 5pm-10pm. Amadeo Greco is Executive Chef and General Manager, and Onsi Mahrous will be Chef and Cook. Previously Max’s offered California cuisine in the evenings. Forystek tells me that they will continue serving the same California cuisine for breakfast and lunch that they have been offering to customers for the last 26 years. She hopes to add several Italian dishes to the lunch menu in the near future.

Is there a menu available online?

  2. Jan says:

I’d be willing to try Max’s Cucina for dinner if they use tablecloths and put some candles the table…something to change the breakfast/lunch daytime look. Is there wine menu?

  3. Bill Beckers says:

It’s nice. Tablecloths, wineglasses and low lighting transform the place. Prices are reasonable and wine list is also.

I’m not shilling here, but their corned beef hash is excellent. Best I’ve had since Cadillac Cafe in Carp.

However, I did post to ask about their burgers and onion rings. How are they?
Somewhat chagrined to realize I’ve been eating there since they opened; I no longer afford to eat out much.
