A sports bar and restaurant named “On The Side” opened yesterday at 6521 Pardall Road in Isla Vista, the birthplace of The Habit Burger Grill and Kinko’s Copies Corp. Unlike most eateries in Isla Vista that require you to order at the cash register, On The Side will be a full service restaurant with a wait staff.
 
   I spoke with general manager John Shields who told me that On The Side’s cuisine is sports bar-oriented, mostly burgers, sandwiches, salads, hot dogs and fried food appetizers including buffalo wings made in-house from scratch. The restaurant has many TV sets inside (seats 30-40) and on the patio (seats 50-60).
 
   On The Side offers an eight-tap draft beer system that is chilled all the way to the tap and serves beer at 34-37 degrees every time you pull it. The selection includes Bud Light, Firestone, Stella, Firestone IPA, Firestone Honey Blonde, Blue Moon, Hefferveisen, Sunshine, and Pabst Blue Ribbon.
