History of Saint Raphael Catholic Church
Father Polydore Stockman built the original Saint Raphael Church on land donated by Mrs. Rafaela Hill in 1896. It stood at what is now the southwest corner of Hollister near Fairview. In 1929 the first church property was sold and the church (the actual building) was moved to Mandarin Avenue where it stayed until 1959 when the property was sold and the present church building on Hollister Avenue was erected in 1961.
